The First Clean-up Job for Harris: Biden’s Gaza Policy

Karen Attiah today posted a Washington Post opinion piece titled: The first clean-up job for Harris is Biden’s horrible Gaza policy; young Americans won’t vote for further support of Israel’s brutal war.

Yes, Ms. Attiah, Gaza policy is job one. It is encouraging that people are starting to rally around this most important issue, and there are some indicators of agreement on what needs to be done, at least directionally.

Some of the reader responses to the article got a bit testy on racial viewpoints and were bitingly critical toward the author. I think these missed the point and didn’t respect the gravity of the topic of Gaza policy. Anyone not able to access the article can contact me. Following is my response to Attiah’s opinion piece.

Responding to Today’s Opinion Piece on Gaza Policy

No single issue is more directly bringing on the fall of America/democracy than the establishment’s sadistic propping up of the state of Israel (it has little to do with the Jewish people). Most of our politicians suck up no matter how fascist and inhumane Israel’s leadership might be.

According to holocaust survivor Rene Lichtman, “Israel has lost its way and is now, at America’s expense, doing anything it wants. Israel is no longer simply playing the role of the world’s victims. They have gone on to be justified oppressors.”

Netanyahu should more properly have been taken into custody today. Instead, he chastised and gas-lit America to a standing ovation. As is, Israel and the US are world pariahs in a weird deadly lockstep.

As bad and irrational as Biden has been in blindly supporting the state of Israel, to the extreme detriment of America and the world, the Trump/GOP approach would be even more deadly/extreme. This article seems to wrongly assume that if people don’t like Biden’s self-defeating Zionistic promotion, they will vote for Trump. No, not if they understand what is going on – this is the issue that will finally send people into the streets. The political parties, as spelled out in their platforms, are competing to show who is more Israeli-fascist-punk-subservient. AIPAC owns far too many politicians, including dems like Hakeem Jefferies.

Youth Might Be Leading the Way, But They Are Not Alone

The youth are right again, and again they are beat down and misrepresented by Biden and his Gaza policy. But this article is wrong to characterize it as exclusively a generational issue. Certainly, there is such a factor. But people of all ages and stripes will fight to stop being Israeli stooges. It has proceeded to supporting genocide. It is embarrassing, inexplicable, and with its direction toward WW3, deadly. Fix this, President Harris, you might be the last chance.
