Think about it, how justice is now doled out in America. On one end of the system, they might or might not be immune, and can usually stall it out anyway. On the other end, they always position for the all-powerful pardon. ‘They’ being the politicians, or their buddies, and of course their families and the oligarchs. With crime paying off at this scale, they need not worry about much of anything. So, just down with taxes on the wealthy and up with security details, distorting truth and pushing the people to anomie.
As the carefree song goes, they get money for nothing, and chicks for free. It is fine to be happy and successful, but not when it is so exhaustively and inhumanely at the direct cost of marginalized peoples. America has been veering this way since WWII, and then came the big bump with Reagan, fueled by Zionism. Now, with the loss of the Supreme Court, the train is threatening to fly off the tracks. The ratio of legit justices is about the same as the ratio of legit politicians. Call it tyranny or gangsterism.
The good news is that there is a slow inexorable awakening of the people. They will fight and will not stand for justice and liberty to be totally stripped away. So, here is the question. Will the people be sufficiently organized and ready when the final call comes?
Immunity and Pardons are the Bookends of a Failing Justice System
These primitive concepts are essentially a design that encourages meddling which feeds the failure we are witnessing. Democracy calls for an impartial, transparent judicial system as part of the bedrock. Here is an interesting take on how Europeans regard our “strange and politicized” justice.
In a more functional democracy where the justice system could be improved, the imperial concepts of immunity and pardons would be eradicated. There will always be justice administration errors, but the system should be self-contained and self-correcting.
Immunity and pardons are big rocks in the way of other aspects of justice. They foster crime. Time and money spent on these does not help the common person (opportunity cost). And, what about the person who breaks the law and then becomes “rehabilitated”, only to see more flagrant criminals get special treatment? Trump would say “just another loser.” Basically, these are the proverbial tip of the injustice iceberg.
America Must Fix Its Dysfunctional Justice System
Justice is more than just another item on the list of things to be fixed. Here, the suggestion is that pardons and immunity might be a good place to start. When America takes a serious look at itself and makes corrections, the light will return, and immunity and pardons will not be the order of the day.
